Lots to Report

I have not posted for a while and I have a lot to report. First news is that I have a job. I think everyone who would read this knows, but I thought I would share more info. I am working at Northwest Vista College www.accd.edu/nvc and I am a Tutor of Writing Across the Curriculum. We call it the WAC Lab for short. What the lab does is help students who are writing papers for classes such as History, Ethics, Mass Communications, Psychology and Criminal Justice. They come in for editing, help getting started on the paper, organization and writing their thesis. It is a great place to work and there are great people there too. It's not Communication, but there are a lot of opportunities to communicate.

Another thing I have started to do is to volunteer at the Majestic Theater here in San Antonio http://majesticempire.com/ as an usher. If you volunteer there, you can see Broadway shows and concerts. So far, I have gotten to see Mama Mia and the San Antonio Symphony. I will get to see Rain this weekend and the Lion King in December. We pick what we want to see and work the days we want to volunteer.

Now, saving the best for last. My oldest child is a high school graduate. They have a program in the school district here that allows the students to graduate early. Deborah is going to look for a full-time job and work to save money to go to college in January. She is going to go to Northwest Vista College. I am so proud of her and for all the hard work she has done to get to this place in her life. She has always been mature for her age and is so smart. I know she is smarter than me by a long shot! All my kids are geniuses. They put me to shame, and I am proud of the intelligence they all possess. I know that Deborah will only excel in college and enjoy whatever she decides to do. So far she has narrowed down her choices to majoring in either Veterinary Medicine or Criminal Justice and Forensics. Very different kinds of majors, but things she really likes. She will decide while she is taking her general ed. classes and a few other classes that may interest her. I love her and I am glad for the choices she has been making in her life.
